Oxford City 1, Tooting & Mitcham 0

A gale force wind dictated events as City just got the better of Tooting to take maximum Ryman Division 1 points at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

A goal shortly after the interval from Shaun Wimble did the trick for Paul Lee's men.

City made the early running with the elements behind them, Tony Webb saving a good effort from Simon Vickers.

At the other end, home keeper Stuart Nelson kept City level when he blocked a point-blank drive from Nigel Webb.

Keeper Webb then raced out to deny Wimble and in the 35th minute, he brilliantly tipped over a powerful 30-yard free kick from Paul Woodhouse.

City got the breakthrough in the 51st minute when Wimble's deep cross sailed over Webb's head to find the far corner.

With Woodhouse and Lewis Craker in commanding form at the heart of City's defence, the visitors' only threat came from corners.

Five minutes from time, Jemaine Ferreira raced through to round Webb, but was driven wide and his cross to the unmarked Mark Druce was cut out by a last-ditch block from Forbes.

Oxford C: Nelson, Farley, Dark, Smith, Craker, Woodhouse, Fontaine, McIntosh, Vickers (Druce 72), Arkins (Ferreira 83), Wimble. Sub not used: Whitehead.

Attendance: 129.

Goals from John Mitchell, Daniel Reagan and Danny Wise gave Oxford City a Suburban League point in a 3-3 draw at Whyteleafe.
