Forty tonnes of hardcore might seem an odd gift -- but for the Island donkey sanctuary, near Wallingford, it is a godsend.
The material from Hanson Corporation's nearby Stanton Harcourt quarry will be laid to make a safe and non-muddy path to the paddocks.
Sanctuary worker Stuart McLaren said: "The weather over the last few months has left the trail to the paddock inches deep in slippery mud.
"It's been bad enough for the staff but has been a real turn-off for visitors.
"Now we'll all be able to look after the animals -- and stay on our feet."
The Island sanctuary looks after 65 donkeys at Brightwell- cum-Sotwell, near Wallingford.
