Korean car maker Kia will unveil a new premium off-roader called the Sorento at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday.

The car will extend Kia's UK line-up to eight models. Kia said it expected the Sorento to make the same impact in the sports utility vehicle market that the Sedona has in the large people carrier market. The Sorento, which is set to become Kia's top-of-the-range prestige product, shares similar dimensions to cars such as the Lexus RX300 and BMW X5. Sorento is Kia's first all-new 4x4 since the 2.0-litre Sportage was launched in 1995.

Kia Sorento will be offered with a 2.5-litre common rail turbodiesel and a choice of a four-cylinder 2.4-litre, or 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines.
