Nissan has revised the Micra range for 2002 and added two new models, the Tempest and Twister.

Following customer reaction to the successful Activ special edition with standard ultrasonic rear parking sensors, Nissan has added rear parking sensors to more than half the Micra range.

Both new models feature blue interior trim and colour-coded exterior. For £245 more than the S, the Tempest, equipped with Nissan's 1.0-litre engine, with a choice of three- or five-doors, has a sunroof and remote central locking. Prices start from £7,495 for a 1.0-litre three-door, rising to £8,945 for a five-door with automatic transmission.

For an extra £400, the Twister adds rear parking sensors, air conditioning in lieu of sunroof and front electric windows. It comes with a choice of 1.0- or 1.4-litre engines and three- or five-doors with prices starting at £7,895 for the 1.0-litre three-door rising to £9,890 for the 1.4-litre five-door with automatic transmission.

Customers buying a Tempest or a Twister before the end of March could be eligible for a year's free insurance.

In the rest of the range, the SE has been given more than £700 worth of extra spec including parking sensors, passenger airbag, tilt and slide sunroof, body coloured door mirrors and a six speaker single slot CD/radio. The SE comes with a choice of 1.0- or 1.4-litre engines, three- or five-doors and manual or CVT transmissions with prices starting at £8,595 for a 1.0-litre three-door model.

The range-topping SE+ is available as a 1.4-litre five-door only with a choice of manual or CVT transmissions. It has £1,100 of equipment including parking sensors, side airbags, front fog lamps, body coloured exterior features including rear roof spoiler, leather steering wheel and electric mirrors.

Prices increase by £500 and now start from £10,995 for the 1.4-litre five-door manual model.
