Former residents of the old Barnardo's Home in Caldecott Road, Abingdon, will hold their annual reunion on Saturday.

Anyone who was associated with the home as a helper, visitor, teacher or friend is encouraged to attend to meet some of the original supporters and former residents who return from all over the country.

For 20 years from 1972 Dr Barnardo's Home in Caldecott House had considerable involvement with Abingdon. Children attended local schools, churches and clubs, and there were many activities at the home.

Saturday's reunion will be held at Abingdon United social club in Northcourt Road. Organiser John Brampton, whose father Walter, was principal at the home said: "We hope as many people as possible will come along to renew old acquaintances and revive memories. The event opens with an optional buffet meal and carries on until 11pm.

"Each year, about 30 people attend the evening, with many of them staying overnight in Abingdon to visit friends and exchange memories of their time at Caldecott House."
