A father-to-son kidney transplant has been hailed a success.
Alan Fosbrook, 62, has donated a kidney to his son Robert, 38, who had kidney problems.
The transplant operation at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford, on Tuesday means that Alan has given Robert a new lease of life.
Robert has had a kidney condition since he was a boy and was told about two years ago he would need a transplant.
Both his parents were compatible, but Alan's kidneys were a slightly better match. Alan's wife, Pat Fosbrook, said: "The operation was very successful. The kidney worked straightaway after the transplant.
"It was a tremendous operation to have and the hospital and its care were marvellous.
"We are so pleased it went off so well."
Alan, of Heron Drive, Langford Village, Bicester, had his 62nd birthday on Sunday two days before the operation.
He is expected to be back home early next week.
Alan and Pat run the Sterling Driving School in Bicester.
Robert is due to be released from hospital in a fortnight's time. He lives in Buckingham and was formerly an advertising representative for the Bicester Advertiser, Oxford Mail and Oxford Times.
He is now an advertising representative for FM103 Horizon radio station, which is based in Milton Keynes.
