A car used by former Oxford United player Peter Rhoades-Brown was broken into while he was playing in a charity football match.

Mr Rhoades-Brown was playing in an Oxford United 'Masters' team at Oxford Brookes University when his Hyundai Sonata was broken into.

The thieves took a car compact disc player and a Robbie Williams CD from the vehicle which was parked in Cheney Lane, Headington.

The car, which is spon- sored by Motorworld, in Botley Road, Oxford, is used by Mr Rhoades-Brown in his role as United's football community officer.

He said: "It had been a great evening, we had raised a lot of money for a very good cause, and everyone was going home happy. It just took the gloss off the evening to find the car broken into and the CD player gone.

"Motorworld are good enough to sponsor my car, and I need it to get around all the schools and colleges to try and help with the community work.

"It's a shame that some idiot needed to ruin the evening for us.

"I was just getting to know the words of the Robbie Williams CD as well."

If anyone has any information on the theft, call St Aldates police station on 01865 266 214.
