A public meeting to discuss the future of Wantage Hospital will be held on Saturday at the civic hall.

Primary care trust managers are conducting a review of health services in Wantage and many in the town fear the hospital could be closed and the site sold for housing development.

Members of the public who attend the meeting will be invited to consider four questions:

What services do you currently use at Wantage Hospital?

What hospital services have you or your close family used in the past three years?

What do you believe you would miss most if we no longer had a Wantage hospital?

In an ideal world, what do you see as the most important aspects of Wantage's health services in the future?

The meeting, which was called by town mayor, Cllr Jenny Hannaby, starts at 10.30am and runs to 12.30pm.

Cllr Hannaby said: "It is vital that we prove to the PCT how essential our services are to the community. If we fail it is possible we could lose them altogether.

"This is our chance as a town to show that the services we require now are very much needed."
