OXFORD United are still not ready to announce the long-term future of boss Ian Atkins, writes MARK EDWARDS.
Talks between Atkins, chairman Firoz Kassam and director Bill Smith took place a month ago, but there has still been no announcement from the club on the outcome.
It is believed that Atkins has agreed, in principle, to a two-year deal, although this has not been confirmed by the club.
Kassam told me on Tuesday: "As soon as we have an announcement, we will let you know, but at the moment, we do not have an announcement to make.
When asked if plans had been put in place to keep Atkins at the club next season, Kassam replid: "That would be telling."
Smith said that nothing could be revealed until the trio have sat down once more.
"It's a question of us all sitting down, but with the hotel being built, things have been very busy here," he said.
"Discussions are at the paper stage. The contract still has to be discussed."
