A 26-year-old backpacker from Oxfordshire found dead in a hotel in Bangkok died of heart failure, caused by a drug and alcohol overdose, police in Thailand said.
Jayne Nixon, of Kencot, near Carterton, had been staying at the £6-a-night Rama Hotel in the Thai capital's popular Bang Lumpoo tourist district.
Her body was found last Saturday, five days after she began a round-the-world trip to get over the break-up of a long-term relationship.
Col Vicharn Borirakskul, from the Thai police, said: "An autopsy showed that she had too much alcohol and morphine in her blood. The doctor ruled that she died from heart failure."
Hotel staff said Ms Nixon, a former legal secretary, checked into the hotel last Friday with a man, and was scheduled to check out two days later. Police said there were no signs of struggle and foul play was not suspected.
