Oxfordshire businesses are being urged to ensure they comply with the Data Protection Act.
The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce says the Information Commissioner, the Government watchdog set up to monitor the enforcement of the act, is showing signs of taking a tougher stance.
Local firms are being warned they could face big fines if they fail to comply with the legislation. Fines of up to £5,000 can be levied if the act is breached.
The chamber is holding two half-day seminars, at the Tomorrow Club, Aylesbury, on April 26, and on May 15, at the chamber's headquarters in Slough.
