Commuters faced diversions and major delays today when a two-mile section of the Oxford Eastern Bypass was sealed off because of a gas leak.
The emergency was reported at about 5.30am by Transco engineers dealing with a suspected leak in the Headington area.
Police then closed off a section of the bypass from the Green Road roundabout in Headington to The Slade turn while repairs started.
