The Bishop of Oxford has given a new £3m school the seal of approval.
The Reverend Richard Harries was at the site of the SS Philip and James Primary School, in Aristotle Lane, Oxford, to officially unveil the foundation stone yesterday.
At present the 200-pupil school has cramped, Victorian buildings, in Leckford Road, off Woodstock Road.
The new building is set to house the first new primary school under the county council's reorganisation of Oxford's schools into primary and secondary schools.
The Aristotle Lane school will house 420 pupils and is being built near to a new 65-house building development.
The school is due to be partially open before Christmas and it is hoped that all the construction work will be finished next February.
