An elderly Woodstock couple lost their pension book and cash after a conman called at their home.

The man burgled the couple's home in Banbury Road on Friday, April 12, after claiming he was from the council and was going to tidy the garden.

He asked to look around and stole the pension book and cash from the couple, who are in their 70s.

The offender was white, stocky, with short dark hair. He was wearing an overall-style top and trousers with a red logo. It is thought he may have walked off to a white van parked nearby.

WPc Denise Trafford said: "If anybody else in Woodstock had a similar caller, or remembers a white van parked in the area, they should call the police on 01865 846960."
