Cattle will make a comeback at this year's Thame and Oxfordshire County Show.

If there is no resumption of foot and mouth by mid-May, sheep and goats will also return to the show.

Food and farming minister Lord Whitty has announced a licensing regime for this year's agricultural shows.

Last year, because of the foot and mouth, the show went ahead without its cattle, sheep and goats classes.

However, to conform with the rules, every show will have a biosecurity officer to ensure licensing conditions are met.

Lord Whitty said: "Agricultural shows are extremely important for both the livestock industry and the wider rural community.

"The return of livestock at the shows is a key step in the move towards returning the countryside to more normal conditions."

The Thame and Oxfordshire County Show will be on Thursday, September 19.
