A Banbury woman who admitted fraudulently obtaining housing and council tax benefits has been given a conditional discharge.
Rachel Wilcox, 30, of Hornbeam Road, pleaded guilty to benefit fraud totalling £2,342 in a case brought by Cherwell District Council.
Banbury magistrates were told that Wilcox did not tell the council she was living with a partner, who was in full time work.
Cllr Andrew Payne, the council's executive member for resources, said: "We take benefit fraud very seriously.
"This case shows the council's determination to deal with the small number of people who abuse the system."
In 2001/2002, the council's benefit investigation unit has saved council taxpayers £155, 683 by identifying fraudulent claims.
A freephone number, 0800 716 152, is available for people to report anyone they suspect may be involved in benefit fraud.
