A paedophile teacher who preyed on pupils in Oxfordshire is facing a prison visit by detectives investigating fresh allegations of sexual abuse.

Police have confirmed that they have received further allegations against John Walker, who is currently serving seven years behind bars.

And they said they had not ruled out putting any new evidence of abuse before a jury.

Walker, 58, admitted 35 counts of abusing children as young as seven at the Oxford school where he taught between 1976 and 1989.

Now, a 36-year-old man has gone to the police saying he was abused at another school in the Oxford area between 1974 and 1975.

But he fears no action will be taken against Walker because of the sentence he received at Oxford Crown Court in February.

He said he spoke to officers, but decided not to make a formal statement because they had been "negative" about the possibility of a further prosecution.

He said: "I feel insulted -- everything has been swept under the carpet. "I am not going to go through with something I have been told bluntly is a dead end. I am seeing a professional counsellor now, and sorting out my end of things."

Walker is known to have interfered with children at his home in Blackthorn Close, Headington, but the man said abuse also took place at an earlier address in Cowley. Det Sgt Bob Krykant, of the child protection and sexual crime unit, said a decision has not been taken on whether Walker will face further action.

His officers have taken two further statements from complainants, received several anonymous phone calls and received one letter alleging abuse.

Det Sgt Krykant said: "There's no hard and fast rules to say we would or wouldn't put papers to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
