Second pair Steve Buckley and Oliver Tims came up trumps to help Cholsey A to a 2.5-1.5 win at Wantage A in Men's Division 1 of the 2-Pair League.

They halved their rubber (3-6, 6-1) against the Wantage first pair of David Soames and James Howell, which effectively sealed victory.

Cholsey's first pair, Jason Harrison and Seth Dixon, also took them close, just going down 3-6, 7-6, 5-7.

Buckley and Tims were much too strong for their opposite numbers, Peter Hart and Tim Ramirez, running out 6-1, 6-1 winners.

The return after a long injury lay-off of the talented Ray Elbourne is boosting Faringdon in Division 2.

Ray Elbourne and Sjoerd Vogt, playing at second pair, won both their rubbers in straight sets as Faringdon notched up a 4-0 win over Banbury West End.

Ray's brother, Alan, and Steve Perry, battled through to defeat the West End first pair, Peter Armstrong and Peter Dickins, 2-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Ray Elbourne and Vogt annihilated the West End second pair, Gareth Jones and Rob Eaves, 6-0, 6-1.

Similarly convincing winners in the division were Hanney, whose pairings of Tom Barton and Eddie Wilkinson, and Adrian Noke and Trevor Russell, crushed Wheatley B 4-0 without dropping a set.
