A woman found dead in the canal at Banbury on Monday has been named as Louisa Nixon, aged 82, of Sycamore Drive, Banbury.
Mrs Nixon's body was removed from the canal by a police underwater search team, after being spotted by boaters.
Police appealed for help in identifying the dead woman and on Wednesday evening neighbours of Mrs Nixon reported that she had not been seen for several days.
Mrs Nixon was a widow who lived alone.
Police said the death was not suspicious. An inquest was due to be opened by the coroner today.
