CHILDREN'S TV presenter Angellica Bell joined dozens of young fans to open a new school hall.

The star of Children's BBC signed autographs and unveiled a commemorative tree, during a visit to Wolvercote Primary School.

The presenter, who lives in London, was invited to the school, in First Turn, by pupils, who wrote asking her to join celebrations marking the opening of their new hall.

After cutting a ribbon and declaring the hall open, she was entertained by a choir of pupils and shared a commemorative cake.

It marked the end of a year-long project to improve facilities at the school, as part of its transition from first to primary school.

The scheme also included the construction of two new classrooms, and the conversion of the former hall into a nursery.

The chairman of the school's Parent Teacher Association Karen Donaghey, said: "Angellica was brilliant with the children.

"She signed masses of autographs, cut a ribbon and unveiled a tree. She is very well known by the children.

"The new hall is huge. We're very pleased with it, but the idea is for it not to be used by just the school, but by the whole community."
