Banbury's Derbyshire brothers stormed to victory in the penultimate round of the Radical Enduro Sportscar Championship at Brands Hatch.

The win makes them the only pairing to secure three victories in this year's campaign.

For a while, it looked as though Adam, 27, and Jamie, 25, would have to settle for second place, but an outstanding drive by Jamie in the closing stages of the two-hour race saw them take the lead with six minutes left.

Adam, a director of Spirit Volkswagen in Southam Road, said: "We had the edge on the track but we lost time in the pits. Our onboard computer system developed a fault, which meant the speed sensor wasn't working and we had no idea how fast we were going in the pit lane during the three stops."

"There's a strict 50mph limit in the pits and when you've been racing at around 145mph it's hard to gauge how fast you're going without instruments so we erred on the side of caution and lost time, around 30 seconds in all."

The brothers, who qualified fifth, were in fourth place, 30 seconds behind race leaders Simon Moulton and Mick Mercer when Jamie took the wheel of the Spirit Volkswagen. He stormed up the field, passing both the second-placed car of Nick Dudfield and Mike Richards and leaders Moulton and Mercer on the same lap!
