MORE than 1,000 homes in the Banbury area were without water after a water main burst.
A section of nine-inch main fractured at Trafford Bridge in the village of Culworth, near the border with Northamptonshire.
Anglian Water engineers were sent to investigate, and managed to shut off the main while trying to re-route supplies from other areas.
Other village communities affected included Aston le Walls, Boddington, Chipping Warden and Edgcott.
A spokesman for the water board said on Tuesday, October 8, that the cause of the burst was still unclear, but it was hoped to have it repaired by midday.
