A CONCERT will mark the 30th birthday of one of Wantage's biggest musical organisations.
Wantage Silver Band, originally formed as a children's band in 1972, is holding a concert at the Civic Hall, Portway, on Saturday, October 12.
The band, which has 120 members, performs regularly at fetes, carnivals and concerts.
Last month, a record number of people, mostly children, joined the band's tuition scheme to learn how to play brass and percussion instruments.
Band member Alan Sykes said: "The concert will be an opportunity to recall our history and to present the progress we have made in becoming one of the town's most active organisations."
Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £6 and £4 for concessions.
They are available by calling 01235 763042.
