EUROPE'S first plastic bridge for traffic has been lowered into place over the Rover Cole in Shrivenham.

The 11ft deck of the bridge was hoisted into place by a 200-tonne crane.
Engineers at Oxfordshire County Council have been working on the European-funded project for four years.
The bridge will carry the B4508 across the river using advanced composite material made of glass and carbon fibre rather than traditional steel and concrete. As well as easier installation, it means the bridge will not rust or need painting.
The bridge will be opened at the end of the October after extensive testing.
It was designed by Mouchel, made by Danish manufacturers Fiberline and installed by contractor Skanska.
