Marks & Spencer has shown its recovery is still on track, by posting another rise in sales.

The retailer, which is opening a new food store in Summertown, Oxford, on Tuesday, October 22, said like-for-like sales in the 12 weeks to September 28 of clothing, footwear, gifts and home products were up 13.2 per cent on the previous year.

Sales of food rose six per cent.

Overall sales were 10 per cent ahead on a like-for-like basis, higher than many analysts had expected.
