Plans to improve the cycle route and footpath between Benson and Wallingford are out to consultation.
Oxfordshire County Council was unveiling proposals on October 11 at an exhibition in Benson parish hall. They include widening the existing cycleway and footpath along the A4074 and building a new crossing.
The scheme is one of several across the county to upgrade cycle links between villages and towns with the aim of cutting traffic growth and pollution.
David Robertson, county council executive member for transport and highways, said: "A good number of people drive to Wallingford from Benson even though they live within easy cycling or walking distance. In many cases, they are put off cycling because they feel it is unsafe."
