Oxford United manager Ian Atkins faces a selection dilemma up front for Saturday's Division 3 clash against Shrewsbury Town, the club where he first made his name as a player.

On-loan Gavin Gordon is now fit again to challenge Jefferson Louis and Andy Scott for the two striking positions, and so too is Manny Omoyinmi.

Steve Basham is fit, but lacks games after being out for six weeks. He played the first 45 minutes against Bournemouth in midweek but seems more likely to be on the bench, ready to come on in the second half this time.

"The only one definitely out, apart from Lee Steele, is Bobby Ford," Atkins reported.

He is expected to return to three centre backs, in which case he must decide between Scott McNiven and Chris Hackett at right wingback.

Roy Hunter, who is at the club on non-contract forms, may make his United league debut in midfield.

"People look at Shrewsbury in 18th place in the league, but I don't take any notice of that," Atkins said. "They've got three of the best strikers in this league."

The pacy Luke Rodgers and veteran former United man Nigel Jemson are joined by Ryan Lowe in a dangerous three-pronged attack.

Former Shrewsbury striker Steele warned: "Rodgers is the one to watch. He was very good last season and he's getting better all the time."

Shrewsbury manager Kevin Ratcliffe is likely to play a 4-3-3 system if Karl Murray recovers from a head injury to line up in midfield.

His team had a confidence-boosting 3-0 win over Morecambe in the LDV Vans in midweek.
