Oxford racer David Beauchamp was in top form as he drove his Nissan Sunny to victory in the final of the 1450 Production Rod class at Standlake Arena on Sunday afternoon.

In rain-drenched conditions, Stephen Stratford and Sheldon Gardiner enjoyed a race-long battle in the hot rods.

Stratford then started to take control, powering his Audi GT around the outside in the closing stages. More than 130 racers took part.

Some of the best racing of the day came in the prestigious Hot Rod class, Trevor Harvey and Roger Townsend ran near-identical 1300cc Toyota Starlets.

But Townsend was able to race around the outside of the more powerful cars to take victory in both the heats and the final.

Crashes and smashes on the track were provided by the 57 Metro and Fiesta Bangers, with the cars providing a super spectacle in their seven races.

The top local racer in the class was Stonesfield racer Paul Tritton, who took third place in the final, before going on to win the end-of-the-day demolition derby.
