Police cars in Oxfordshire are changing colour.
Red stripes along the side of Thames Valley Police cars are being replaced by a new 'Battenburg' livery, so called because it is a pattern of squares resembling a Battenburg cake.
All new vehicles will have the blue and yellow markings. Those already in service will be painted soon.
Ian Godolphin, Thames Valley Police fleet manager, said: "The markings are being changed primarily to increase visibility to improve the safety of staff and the public.
"The blue and yellow markings distinguish us from other emergency services. As other forces change to the new livery this will also help to develop a national police image."
The new markings also fall in line with national Association of Chief Police Officers and Police Scientific Development branch recommendations.
