Residents living near Oxford United's Kassam Stadium are being invited to see the latest plans for a new £22m leisure complex, tomorrow (October 29).

Last month, workers started to clear the site next to the stadium in Grenoble Road to make way for a nine-screen multiplex cinema, a bowling alley and nightclub.

A bingo hall, fitness centre and dance studios are also planned.

United chairman Firoz Kassam won permission for the complex two years ago.

Residents are being invited to The Priory pub, near the stadium, between 6pm and 8pm tomorrow, to see the latest plans. Refreshments are being provided.

They will be shown maps revealing exactly where the leisure park buildings are to be situated.

Mr Kassam said: "We have planning permission, so this is not actually part of consultation.

"We simply want to keep local people informed."

Mr Kassam said talks were still taking place with a number of companies with a view to them becoming tenants in the new leisure park.

He added: "Talks are still continuing, so we can't be too specific about interiors, but we can give the public quite a good idea of what is going to happen."

Mr Kassam is hoping to sign contracts with leisure operators over the next 12 months, while construction work is being carried out on the complex.

Despite a fall in investment in the leisure industry, Mr Kassam remains optimistic.
