A keen and generous baker, Joseph Jacques, has died aged 86.
Mr Jacques, known as 'Son', was born at the old bakery in Steventon, near Abingdon. He attended Abingdon School but at the age of 15, after the death of his father, he joined the family business, retiring in 1982.
In 1942 he married Enid, from Charney Bassett, and the couple celebrated their diamond wedding earlier this year.
A family friend, Nick Thompson, said: "Son was the most generous and unselfish of men. He was held in great affection by all who knew him."
He is survived by his wife, a son and four grandchildren. A funeral sevice was held on October 19 at Steventon.
