A late try by replacement forward Rob Thurlow earned Bicester an unconvincing 22-15 victory over winless Wallingford at Oxford Road.
Bicester's fourth win in five matches puts them second in the table, but it was a sluggish display by the home side.
Wallingford, playing down the slope in the first half, should have led by more than 15-12 at the break.
Centre Kieron Murphy scored two tries for the visitors. Ollie Henderson missed the first conversion from in front of the posts but kicked the second and added a penalty.
For Bicester, Chris and Andy Nash set up a try for impressive full back Tom Edgar, while Chris Nash then scored himself. Ross Cunningham converted the latter.
A penalty by Cunningham levelled matters midway through the second half, and Bicester snatched victory when Mark Malins set up a rolling maul from a line-out which led to Thurlow's try. Cunningham added the conversion.
