Oxfordshire's two Formula 1 teams completed a tough workout at a rain-soaked Silverstone as they warmed up for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on Sunday (May 4).
During three days of testing at the Northamptonshire circuit, the Grove-based BMW Williams team focused on chassis development work, with extra emphasis on tyre and gearbox improvements.
With Ralf Schumacher still grieving following the death of his mother, Juan Pablo Montoya topped the time charts for the first two days of the test in his FW25.
That was before an accident at Maggots towards the end of the run on the second day ended the Columbian's test prematurely, leaving Marc Gen to complete the session.
Despite the adverse weather conditions on the final day of the test, the team said considerable progress was achieved, with the team confident of success in Spain.
