People from Oxfordshire will soon have the chance to read all about the county's historic treasures in a new book being published at the end of this year.
The book is being compiled by the Friends of Archives Museums and Oxfordshire Studies (Famos), a registered charity that supports the work of the heritage services of Oxfordshire County Council and other organisations.
Famos has been awarded a grant from the National Lottery to enable it to publish the book, which will be called Treasures of Oxfordshire.
The book will detail a selection of historic treasures from the county in public collections, including those at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, the Oxfordshire Record Office and the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies.
The council's museums and heritage officer Martyn Brown said the book would act as a handy guide for people in the county and visitors will be able to find out what is preserved and where.
"I am looking forward greatly to the publication of this," he added. Meanwhile, FAMOS will be holding its annual meeting on Monday, May 19 at the Museum of Oxford at 7pm.
The meeting will be followed by a lecture by Dr Martin Henig, Chair of FAMOS on Oxfordshire Treasures. All are welcome to attend.
