Radley's newly-formed men's team continued their perfect start to the season with victory in the Southern League Division 5 West meeting at Kingston.

They achieved 24 first places to cruise home by 19.5 points from Bicester, and go top of the table with two wins out of two.

Steve Wren competed in seven events, picking up club records in the 400m hurdles (1.04.2), 110m hurdles (18.9) and triple jump (11.90m).

Under 20 athletes Dan and Matt Pearce were also in top form, Dan winning the B string 100m and Matt coming first in the B string 3000m steeplechase and pole vault.

Richard Twine ran 54.2 to take the A string 400m, and produced a fine performance to finish second in the 800m with a club record of 2.05.9.

Carl Afilika won both the 100m and 200m, taking the former in 11.5, before running a personal best of 24.4 over the longer distance.

Radley's throwers were also on top form.

Chris Franks smashed the club record to win the A string hammer with a throw of 36.58m, while Craig Spires won the A string javelin with 40.45m.

Veteran Barry Coote showed tremendous stamina to pick up seven points out of a possible ten, finishing second in the 3000m steeplechase in 16.07.0, and then coming third in the 5000m in 24.30.2.

Bicester recorded eight first places and 19 seconds.

Mark Curson was their star, recording a win in the 800m in a race against strong opposition. He also triumphed in the 1500m and came second in the 400m.

Ed O'Gorman was also impressive, winning the 3000m steeplechase and the 1500m B race. In the triple jump, Daniel Oliver and Chris Wagner proved unbeatable, finishing first in the A and B strings.
