Banbury West End are on the brink of relegation to Men's Division 2 of the OLTA Wilson Inter-Club 3-Pair League, after suffering a crushing 7.5-1.5 defeat at the hands of mid-table Witney.

West End's defeat means that they must pick up at least three points (a win and a draw) from their remaining two games against Cholsey and Oxford City if they are to stand a chance of staying in the top flight.

Oxford City B are already relegated following their 9-0 whitewash at the hands of Thame, and West End are hot favourites to join them.

Tom Canning, Carl Jebbit, Bill Adams and Robert Jones were in top form for Witney, who showed their struggling opponents no mercy.

In Division 2, Woodstock look set to miss out on promotion, despite an incredible 9-0 victory over Oxford Sports B.

Although Sports are without a win all season, and are already relegated, Woodstock dropped just 16 games in the nine rubbers.

Their top pair of Ben Coomber and Pramod Gujral lost just three games all afternoon, with Manoj and Anumod Gujral, who dropped five, as well as Peter Westall and Paul Casey, who lost eight, the destroyers.

In Division 3, Banbury C's horror season went from bad to worse with an 8.5-.5 defeat at the hands of Witney B - who eased their relegation fears.

Banbury, who only fielded two pairs, conceded just 24 games in the match, with ten of those coming in their only dropped rubber, when Witney's Chris Pyne and Simon Backer halved with Rob Gray and Gary Mather 6-2, 4-6.
