Banbury's Will Bratt was robbed of victory in the 17th round of the Building Environmental Services Plc BRSCC T-Cars Championship at Oulton Park, after a rare mechanical failure put paid to his chances.
Bratt said: "It was very disappointing. I had the win within reach."
The 15-year-old pushed eventual winner James Jakes hard, posting the fastest lap, as he tried to pass him.
As the leader's engine started losing oil, Bratt was right on him, waiting for his chance to seize the lead, when his engine cut out sidelining him at Druids.
In the second race, Bratt went out before the start, spinning into the wall at Lodge on the warm-up lap.
