Aston Rowant are ready to accept the offer of promotion to the Home Counties Premier League.

The newly-crowned Oxford Times Cherwell League champions agreed at a committee meeting on Monday night to take the step up into Division 2 West.

Skipper Chris Hutton said: "We are not going to lose any players - they are all willing to play - and we think we can put the organisation in place with lunches etc.

"We are right in the middle of the league's area so there will not be so much travelling for us, and obviously the ground is kept immaculately.

"Hopefully we will be an asset to the league."

Home Counties chairman Raymond Wood welcomed the news that Rowant were ready to be promoted.

"If we could have picked a side out from the Cherwell League, Aston Rowant would certainly have been one that we would have favoured because of the facilities, and the location is good as well," he said.
