A policeman who saved a woman from jumping from a Banbury multi-storey car park is being commended for his courage.
Neville Clayton
Shift sergeant Neville Clayton, was getting the Chief Constable's Commendation at a ceremony on September 3.
In January, police were called to the Bolton Road car park after reports of a young woman climbing up the outside of the five-storey building.
Sgt Clayton found the woman clinging to a wall on the top floor, threatening to jump.
She lost her grip just as he grabbed her, but Sgt Clayton managed to hang on until firefighters arrived and pulled her to safety.
He said: "I am proud to be receiving the commendation for what really was just doing my job. I have met the girl since and she is very grateful. Things are a lot rosier for her now than they were then."
