People fighting to keep Chipping Norton's open air swimming pool open will be holding talks with West Oxfordshire District Council about its future.
The use of the pool has been monitored this summer by the district council following the opening last summer of the town's new leisure centre, which has an indoor pool.
People using the pool launched the Keep Our Pool Open (Kopo) campaign with a petition signed by more than 2,000 people and backing from actor Ben Kingsley, who lives nearby in Spelsbury.
Campaigners have been invited to prepare proposals to keep the pool open and to meet cabinet members.
The cabinet will also meet town councillors and the Trustees of the Fire Brigade Charity, who own the swimming pool land, before reaching a decision.
A spokesman for Kopo, Patrick Neale, said: "The district council's representative Matt Prosser was very encouraged by our programme and proposals."
The pool closed for the season at the beginning of this month but the council has yet to confirm if it will open for the 2004 season.
