SATURDAY'S Polish Grand Prix in Bydgoszcz is the penultimate event of the nine-round world series and the title race couldn't be closer.

Only two points separate leader Tony Rickardsson - still my choice to make it a record-equalling sixth world crown - Nicki Pedersen and Jason Crump.

Oxford's Greg Hancock, in fifth spot, will be looking to consolidate, to stay in next year's series, while for Todd Wiltshire, in 15th, there are just two rounds to go in his Grand Prix swansong.

Top-class racing is expected at one of the best circuits in the series, and livewire performances are on the cards from Tomasz Gollob, Oxford asset Tomas Bejerski and Piotr Protasiewicz, from Poland.

Still on the GP theme, a good turn from a group of Oxford fans led by Richard Dunn, of RD Racing, bookmakers at Oxford Stadium, earned them the tidy sum of £2,000 at the Czech Grand Prix. They were queuing up to book in at the airport, when someone spotted Crump at the back.

They beckoned to him to come to the head of the queue and later got chatting on the flight to Prague, when Crumpie told them he thought he could win the Czech GP.

With that, the boys got their betting boots on and ended up £2,000 richer.

The lads were so delighted with their win that they presented each member of the Oxford team with champagne on Friday, and also made a special presentation to Crump.
