A private medical firm will provide out-of-hours GP services to a Bicester prison.
Primecare already provides the service to inmates at Wormwood Scrubs in London, but has now added Bullingdon Prison and a Nottingham jail to its books.
The service operates in a similar way to the traditional out-of-hours service, with prison staff contacting a duty doctor.
If the doctor recommends an on-site visit, a local Primecare branch is contacted to arrange the visit.
Equipment and drugs will be kept at the prison.
Stephen Page, managing director of Primecare, said: "These important contract wins highlight how Primecare can offer a co-ordinated approach to out-of-hours care, whether it be for individual GPs, primary care trusts or secure establishments such as prisons."
