Heavy lorries passing through Sutton Courtenay are to be targeted by police.
The parish council wants action to stop what chairman John Francis calls the "danger and disruption" to community life caused by heavy vehicles rumbling through the village, despite a weight restriction.
He said: "We see lorries ignoring the signs at the entrances to the village. Sutton Courtenay is being used as a rat-run for some operators whose lorries, we think, are travelling from the A34 towards the M40.
"We think the signing isn't good enough at the moment.
"It needs to be moved because it is not until you start entering the village you see the signs."
There is a car storage area on land on the edge of the village towards Didcot and some car transporters have been seen passing through the village.
The police stop offending vehicles and escort them to a weighbridge and prosecute if a vehicle is found to be overweight.
The parish council will raise the matter with the Didcot Transport Strategy working party, which examines transport issues in the area.
