DAVID Oldfield has warned Oxford United's players not to rest on their laurels - and keep concentrating hard on picking up all three points in every match they play.

After a very satisfying week for everyone at the Kassam Stadium, assistant manager Oldfield urged the players to look forward, not back.

And he says winning at Boston today will help to prove that the 2-0 defeat at Doncaster in their last away match was "just a blip".

"To have good, battling football, with good support from the fans, makes it a very pleasing week overall," said Oldfield.

"But we need to put these two home wins against Northampton and Torquay to the back of our minds and go again to get the three points.

"Personally, I think we have already proved that Doncaster was a blip in the last two home games. With the Northampton performance, especially, we showed a very good reaction to losing to Reading in the cup.

Oldfield feels so many areas of the pitch have come right at the same time.

And it means that, whereas last season the U's collected just 34 points out of a possible 69 at the Kassaam Stadium, they are now thoroughly enjoying home life again - for possibly the first time since they moved from the Manor.

Their record this season of five wins and a draw from six league games at home speaks for itself.

"The lads at the back have been strong," he added.

"Andy Woodman in goal has been strong, the midfield have worked their socks off - Paul Wanless, James Hunt and Dean Whitehead have put in some very good performances - and up front, Steve Basham has come back and made a big difference. He has been outstanding in taking his chances.

"It's culminated in confidence-building and we're enjoying ourselves down here.

"The crowd have helped and we certainly appreciate them turning up and supporting us.

"All those aspects have come together to build a good run. But we need to maintain what we're doing and progress further."
