RAF serviceman Wayne Robinson and his family fear they may have to leave Oxfordshire when he leaves the RAF unless they can be allocated a home by West Oxfordshire District Council.

Mr Robinson will leave the RAF this month after 12 years and faces eviction from his service accommodation in Northwood Crescent, Carterton, in February.

His wife Kirtsy suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and they have three children Jordan, seven, Connor, five, and Heather, three. Jordan and Connor are pupils at Gateway Primary School while Heather goes to Brize Norton Pre-School.

West Oxfordshire District Council said it had 2,000 people waiting for accommodation, but promised to do all it could to help the Robinsons.

Mr Robinson, 29, said: "We want to stay in west Oxfordshire. I come from Headington originally and we have family in the area. I am involved with Wolvercote Scouts and the Gang Show.

"We've applied to go on the waiting list at West Oxfordshire District Council but they can't tell us if or when we will get a house.

"I'm qualified driver with the RAF and have applied for a job at a bus company. The stress is making my wife's condition worse. I've done 12 years for my Queen and country yet it seems I can't settle in the district. We can't afford to buy."

District council spokesman Lesley Sherratt said: "We work closely with defence housing to try to rehouse people but we have 2,000 names on our waiting list with 300 of them specifically wanting to live in Carterton."
