Walkers will have a mud-free hike when a footpath is improved on a new housing estate in Bicester.
The route at Bure Park is almost a mile long and runs along the bottom of the embankment carrying the Bicester North to Banbury railway line.
It joins Banbury Road and Lords Lane on either side of Bure Park and also links up with another path leading off the estate to Barry Avenue. The cost of creating a cycleway and path is estimated at £106,000. Oxfordshire County Council will pay £76,000 and Cherwell District Council £30,000.
Town councillor Carol Steward said: "I welcome this move as the path is very well used, but muddy at times.
"It is also a route for people to reach Bicester North railway station."
