Kate Turner, the outstanding young prospect from Wheatley, landed the biggest senior success of her career when she won the Buckinghamshire Champions of Champions Trophy at Woburn.
Kate with her trophyThe 16-year-old club champion of Magnolia Park beat Ellesborough's Clara Leathers one up in an exciting final on the Duchess course.
The final of this knock-out event for club champions in the county, should have been played in the first week of half term at Woburn's Duke Course.
But Turner had broken the knuckle of her left index finger playing netball the week before. So it was delayed until her finger had healed.
At one stage, Leathers was two up, but Turner, who like her opponent plays off a four handicap, turned it round to go one up at the 16th hole.
Leathers won the 17th and they went down the 18th all square.
Leathers hooked her tee shot and made only five, while Turner holed a two-foot putt for a winning four.
Turner, who is also a member of Studley Wood, is the reigning Oxfordshire junior girls champion, having first won the title as a 14-year-old.
This year, the former member of North Oxford also captured the South East Girls' Championship.
