South League: City of Oxford had a fortuitous 1-0 win at home to Old Kingstonians in the Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional division.

They went in front after ten minutes when Paul Scragg scored after good work by Richard Lloyd.

But for the remainder of the half they came under heavy pressure as they played with a man short with first one player being yellow-carded and then another.

In the second half, City should have made the game safe when they were awarded a penalty flick, but Simon Mold missed from the spot.

Rover Oxford suffered their second defeat of the season in Division 1 when they went down 1-0 to Bicester.

The visitors' goal came after ten minutes with a shot from a narrow angle.

Abingdon bounced back from last week's defeat against Sonning to record an emphatic 4-1 victory over OMT in Division 1.

Kev Smith opened the scoring for Abingdon from their first penalty corner with a low shot past the defenders on the line.

Nathan Conn then scored twice in quick succession as Abingdon raced into a 3-0 lead.

Abingdon scored a fourth within minutes of the restart. Andy Maunder sent a cross to the far post where Will Trigg beat the keeper with a low flick.

With 20 minutes remaining, James Patterson pulled one back for OMT.

Skipper Steve Bates was sent off for dissent as Witney crashed 6-0 at home to high-flying Marlow in their Division 2 encounter.

Midfield anchor George Scriven had to leave the field injured, and the defeat would have been even heavier but for goalkeeper Jon Watkins.
