Bashley 1, Banbury Utd 1: Banbury United stretched their unbeaten run to eight games with Saturday's hard-earned draw at Dr Martens Eastern Division rivals Bashley on Saturday.

The absence of Jason Allen meant that Wayne Blossom lined up alongside Kieran Sullivan at the back, and Mark Simms was brought back into the team up front.

The home side got off to a good start, going ahead in the third minute. Stuart Cannie was given room to turn, and hit a sweet left-foot drive past Simon Tricker.

Banbury put this setback behind them, and went close in the 32nd minute when Chris Potter crossed and Simms beat Bashley keeper Jason Harvell, only for his shot to go inches wide.

Banbury came out for the second half firing on all cylinders, and pushed Bashley on the back foot.

Their pressure paid off in the 50th minute when Potter was fouled just outside the area. Chris Jackson's tremendous left-foot free-kick beat the wall, and flashed into the top corner of the net.

Banbury continued to push for the equaliser, but the home side defended well, as the game ended in a draw.
