A dustman was airlifted to hospital with leg injuries after being crushed by a dustcart.
Police closed Humber Close in the centre of Wantage after the accident at about 9.20am on March 29.
The Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance was called out from Maidenhead and landed in a nearby playground.
Crew members treated the injured man, who has not been named but is thought to be in his 20s, before flying him to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
An ambulance spokesman said it was not clear how the accident happened.
He added: "The man had crush injuries to his left leg but he couldn't remember how they happened. We gave him pain relief and flew him to the John Radcliffe. He was there in five minutes."
The injured worker was part of a Cleanaway crew on its usual rounds in Wantage.
The Vale of White Horse District Council has started an inquiry into the accident.
